Celebrating two years of Nimbus Downtown Brooklyn: A look back at our favorite moments

May 2nd, 2024, marked two years since we officially opened Nimbus Downtown Brooklyn! Nimbus is a vibrant and diverse community brought together by good food and even better people. We empower iconic culinary institutions and emerging food brands to grow and thrive with turn-key hourly kitchen rentals, customizable long-term kitchen leases, and engaging community spaces with event programming. We provide emerging, established, and enterprise businesses with the high-end facilities, strategic partnerships, and operational support needed to expand their reach to new neighborhoods and customers. Nimbus Downtown Brooklyn, our flagship location, perfectly encapsulates our core values. Here is a closer look at some of the most outstanding moments over the past two years.

noma takes over

One of the most memorable occasions was when the renowned restaurant, noma, booked our entire hourly kitchen space to cater an off-site pop-up event. The buzz in the air was electric as their team worked their magic, showcasing their innovative cuisine. It was a true testament to the versatility and quality of our facilities to host such a prestigious team.

Spring fling block party

Who doesn't love a good block party? Partnering with DoorDash and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, we hosted a Spring Fling block party that brought the community together for an afternoon of food, fun, and festivities. We featured food from our members and other local businesses and celebrated all things local and delicious. Seeing the smiles on people's faces as they sampled different cuisines reaffirmed our commitment to fostering community spirit through food.

Chefs for Impact pop-up dinner

Collaborating with Chefs for Impact was a highlight for us. They hosted a pop-up dinner featuring the culinary talents of Top Chef winner Buddha Lo, creating a dining experience that was as impactful as it was delicious. It was heartening to see how food could be used as a force for good, bringing people together to support meaningful causes while indulging in exceptional cuisine.

The Ssam's journey

Witnessing the journey of one of our members, The Ssam, has been truly inspiring. They started as an hourly member, utilizing our facilities to build their business from the ground up. Over time they refined their operations and grew a community of regulars. After a year of operation, they were ready to scale into a long-term kitchen unit at Nimbus Midtown.

Pasta Class Florence comes to NYC

Pasta Class Florence brought Italy to New York City when they traveled across the Atlantic to teach pasta-making classes in our show kitchen. Participants learned the art of crafting authentic Italian pasta from the masters. The aroma of freshly made pasta filled the air, transporting everyone to the cobblestone streets of Florence.

As we reflect on these moments, we're grateful for the vibrant community that has made Nimbus Downtown Brooklyn more than just a commercial kitchen space, but a hub of culinary creativity, collaboration, and growth. Here's to many more years of delicious adventures ahead!
